Benjamin Watson
3D ARTIST - MOTION DESIGNER

About Me
I am a Motion Graphics Designer currently based in Washington State, specializing in 3D modeling and animation. My journey into 3D began over 16 years ago with MAYA, which I have used throughout my career. Today I produce most of my work using Cinema 4D for animation, Octane for rendering, and Adobe After Effects for compositing.
3D
The thing I love about 3D animation and motion graphics is the ability to bring to life abstract concepts and distill information creatively. My longstanding work with NASA includes ten years of ScienceCasts, which are concise videos which illustrate various science topics encountered by NASA’s science missions. I designed and developed the series and was involved in every step of production, including:
• Storyboarding
• Design
• 3D Modeling
• Animation
• Motion Graphics
• Compositing
• Music EditingYou can view the full ScienceCast playlist here.Another favorite NASA project is the Space Station Benefits Collection, an eight episode series that served as a complement to NASA's Benefits for Humanity product published every three years. You can view all eight videos here.
2D Design & Animation
Sometimes, a story is best told in two dimensions. This collection features videos animated primarily in After Effects.
Process
A curated collection of screen recordings, edited to music, showcasing the behind-the-scenes decisions and steps in my workflow.
